Local Winner to Receive Trip to Denver for Guaranteed American Idol Audition

Big Flats, NY

The largest local talent contest in the area is back, and this year it moves to the Summer Sound Stage at Tags. Twin Tiers Idol is back for the fifth year, and this year’s winner will have an all expense paid trip to Denver’s INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium for a guaranteed audition for American Idol on Fox.

“Over the years, local contestants have performed in front of thousands of people—first at the Arnot Mall and now at Tag’s Summer Sound Stage,” said Bill Christian, CEO of WYDC-TV, Big Fox. “This year we are thrilled to bring the contest to a new level, with the winner traveling further than any other winner.”

Gates will open at 6 pm with the shows starting at 7 each Wednesday for the next five weeks. The Final audition show will be Monday July 6th with the Results Finale on Wednesday July 8th.  Full details can be found on the WYDCtv.com or on Tagstickets.com.

Once again, the major radio sponsor is the Pembrook Pines Media Group featuring 94 Rock and 99.5 WOKN. Ballots are handed out at the event for audience participation in the results, and critiques will come from three judges: Wendy Owens (from nationally renowned Wendy Owens and Renegade), Don Ferrario from Ferrario Auto Team, and Tim Sanphy, Jr. (from the Kilrush band).

This year’s Twin Tiers Idol will feature a local give back to charity. While no admission is charged, it was Tags’ idea to use this platform to help local charities. Tag’s Director of Promotions Patty Bauer explains: “June 10th and 17th will benefit Strong Kids Safe Kids. June 24th and July 1st will benefit the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. Bring a can of non-perishable food or a cash donation in any amount. July 6th and July 8th will benefit the Chemung County SPCA. Bring dog or cat food, blankets, toys, kitty litter or a cash donation in any amount. These charities are near and dear to our heart, and we are pleased to help the community help out.”

Event MC Mike Strobel from WLVY-94 Rock notes, “there is no other singing talent competition like this within a hundred miles. Twin Tiers Idol has become the premier event in showcasing local vocalists.” While hundreds of thousands now audition around the country for American Idol, only a few will receive a guaranteed audition in front of Idol staff.

Soundworks will be providing all sound for the events.
